Project overview
Revista Central faced the complex structural challenges of high-volume digital publishing: an overcrowded editorial architecture that buried valuable content, high bounce rates, and the critical need to balance an aggressive advertising revenue model without disrupting the mobile user experience.
I led the product design and digital transformation from discovery and research through validated engineering handoff. The solution merged a restructured editorial taxonomy, a mobile-first UI system, a native Dark Theme, Material Design 3 (M3) color logic, and Bootstrap 5 responsive foundations. The outcome was a fast, scalable publishing platform engineered to increase reader retention, boost content discoverability, and drive ad-tech performance.
Audience Research & Definition
Before executing visual design, the project began with a deep UX audit of the existing digital platform. I conducted stakeholder interviews, global media competitive analysis, heuristic evaluations, and user testing to pinpoint friction points. This foundational research defined a streamlined MVP focused on reading legibility and site performance.
Editorial Architecture & Taxonomy
With thousands of legacy articles across culture, travel, and wellness, the publication required strict structural clarity. I designed a new sitemap, intuitive category taxonomies, and user navigation flows structured to increase pages-per-session and improve organic search visibility.
Editorial UX/UI & Design System
I architected a modular, mobile-first visual system optimized for long-form reading engagement. • Scalable Components: Standardized layout blocks for articles, categories, author profiles, video embeds, and newsletter capture units. • Ad-Tech Integration: Thoughtfully designed advertising slots that maintain revenue generation without compromising visual rhythm or reading comfort. • Technical Foundations: Applied M3-inspired color logic, engineered a complete Dark Mode variant for low-light legibility, and utilized Bootstrap 5 grid systems to ensure flawless responsiveness across devices.
Validation & Developer Handoff
Great design requires seamless execution. I validated interactive prototypes through user usability testing to iterate rapidly before engineering began. To ensure zero loss of fidelity, I delivered comprehensive screen inventories, reusable Figma components, and precise technical documentation for TV Azteca's development team.
Measurable Business Results
The product design strategy directly impacted core business KPIs, delivering sustained growth verified by Revista Central's internal analytics team: • +54.22% Increase in total Site Visits • +26.83% Increase in Time on Site per user session • +11.68% Growth in Mobile User reach and retention • +46.09% Boost in Newsletter Subscribers A clearer editorial structure dramatically improved content discoverability, lengthened user reading sessions, expanded mobile engagement, and accelerated organic newsletter acquisition.
Design note
My responsibility covered UX research, product strategy, UX/UI design, design system architecture, prototype validation, and developer handoff. Production coding and backend implementation were executed by TV Azteca's internal engineering team.
