Project overview

CycloKinetics engineers high-energy-density fuels (CycloJP, CycloRP, and CK-10) designed to significantly improve range, speed, altitude, endurance, and payload capacity across aircraft and space platforms—without requiring modifications to existing propulsion systems or infrastructure (drop-in integration).

The business challenge was communicating dense chemical and propulsion engineering through a digital experience that instantly established scientific credibility, defense-grade authority, and intuitive understanding. Working in close collaboration with Nika Agency, I developed the original website concept, art direction, responsive interface system, and motion direction. The proposal organized the company's mission profiles, propellant portfolio, scalable manufacturing capabilities, and leadership into a clear visual narrative built around editorial typography, aerospace imagery, modular content, and high-contrast interaction patterns. Although the final production design evolved through a broader collaborative process, several foundational visual, structural, and modular elements from my concept were directly incorporated into the launched website.

Art Direction & Visual Concept

The defense and military sectors frequently suffer from outdated, rigid interfaces or dense technical overload. I established an executive-grade visual language balancing scientific rigor with cinematic aesthetics, blending high-fidelity aerospace imagery, editorial typography, and a restrained, high-contrast dark-and-technical-orange color palette.

Mission-Driven Storytelling

To help government agencies, defense contractors, and engineering leads grasp the real-world value of the technology in seconds, the site architecture shifted focus from chemical formulas to tactical battlefield and space applications. I structured the user experience around real-world Mission Profiles, deploying visual scenarios for tactical combat aircraft, long-range missile systems, and next-generation orbital launch platforms.

Modular Product Architecture

I engineered a modular UI system to showcase the company's technical propellant portfolio (CycloJP, CycloRP, and CK-10). The design translates dense performance and energy-density specifications into scannable, structured product cards—clearly articulating their strategic advantages as drop-in fuels for aviation, space launch, in-space propulsion, and defense systems.

End-to-End Responsive Experience

The precision of aerospace engineering required flawless execution across every viewport. Desktop, tablet, and mobile layouts were architected as a unified digital ecosystem, seamlessly adapting grid layouts, typographic scaling, product modules, and touch interactions to preserve visual impact and structural legibility across screen sizes.

Functional Motion & Technical Dynamism

Motion was deployed as a functional UX tool to guide user orientation and establish a cinematic digital signature. I produced After Effects motion studies and presentation animations to define layout transitions, module entrance behaviors, and the progressive disclosure of technical aerospace data.

Design note

This case study presents my original design exploration conceptualized and developed for Nika Agency. The final CycloKinetics website evolved from a broader multidisciplinary collaborative process and is not an exact implementation of this proposal, although several foundational visual, structural, and modular elements from my work were directly incorporated into the launched production experience.
