Project overview

Andrómeda faced a highly intricate UX and architectural challenge: unifying a multi-sided ecosystem serving three distinct user types simultaneously—diners, restaurateurs, and front-of-house hostess teams—while adapting the entire experience to the technical boundaries and logic of an existing Magento (Adobe Commerce) backend architecture.

In strategic partnership with 3Devs, I led the end-to-end Product Design and UX/UI across all touchpoints: the public discovery website, the consumer mobile application, the restaurateur management portal, and the hostess table-management interface. The result is a cohesive, high-performance digital product that simplifies culinary discovery for consumers while providing restaurant operators with powerful, precision-driven management tools.

UX Audit & Product Architecture

Before crafting visual interfaces, the project required untangling operational complexity. I conducted a thorough heuristic and technical audit to rebuild the product taxonomy, sitemap, and user navigation flows. Critical journeys—venue search, real-time reservation engines, subscriptions, billing, and seating management—were mapped out to ensure structural clarity and zero user friction prior to visual design.

Consumer Experience & Dining Discovery

For the end consumer (diner), the primary design objective was speed of adoption and effortless exploration. • Intuitive Discovery: Designing responsive web layouts and mobile app screens (iOS/Android) tailored for venue discovery by geolocation, cuisine type, time slot availability, and party size. • Frictionless Booking: Streamlining onboarding flows, real-time table selection, instant booking confirmations, personal account management, and user review systems.

Restaurateur Management & Operational Portals

A hospitality platform is only as strong as the tools it provides to the business. I designed a specialized SaaS portal and operational views tailored for restaurant staff: • Hostess Experience UI: Tablet-optimized interfaces engineered for fast, high-pressure front-of-house action: guest check-ins, waitlist management, real-time table assignment, and seating turnover tracking. • Restaurateur Dashboard: Administrative modules for owners and general managers that centralize venue profiles, SaaS subscription tiers, billing, payment methods, and operational performance analytics.

Scalable Design System & Visual Foundations

To maintain consistency across web, mobile, and tablet interfaces, I architected a modular design system in Figma. • Color Guidance (Night): Utilizing a sophisticated dark theme foundation (Night) that establishes a premium digital aesthetic while reducing eye strain in dimly lit restaurant environments, leveraging intentional color accents to signal booking states and alerts. • Typography & Structure (Inter): Deploying the Inter typeface family, chosen for its exceptional legibility across dense data tables and mobile screens, providing a clean, neutral framework that lets venue photography shine.

Developer Handoff & Technical Specifications (Dev Mode)

True product design leadership bridges the gap between Figma and engineering. The entire UI system was meticulously documented using Figma Dev Mode. I delivered exact layout specifications, spacing tokens, color variables, reusable component states, and responsive behavior guidelines tailored for the engineering team—minimizing technical debt and accelerating deployment on Magento.

Design note

My responsibility covered product analysis, UX strategy, UI design, Design System architecture, interactive prototyping, and technical developer handoff. Production coding, backend database integration, and software deployment were executed by 3Devs' engineering team.
